I'd like to share with you how I personally hold onto that healthy glow and 'keep' it all year long. Of course eating healthy, drinking water and being physically active are all super helpful. But do you want to know my one super duper simple secret for maintaining Summer's healthy glow? It's bronzing powder!
Bronzing powder imparts a natural glow to the skin while softening imperfections. It's so easy and so effective but there are a few important factors that can make it or break it: the bronzer, the brush you apply it with, and the areas you apply it to.
As far as picking out a shade goes, you want to pick one that is one or two shades darker than your skin tone - and nothing too orangey. Lots of bronzing powders have added shimmer which can really give an gorgeous effect but can make skin look too shinny for more oily skin types.
I personally prefer Emani's pressed powder bronzer in Santorini (available at the Beauty Temple.) It's a really versatile shade which works on many skin tones. Plus it has a real nice shimmer to it which isn't overpowering.
Some bronzing powders come with a brush when you purchase them. If this is the case, you can count on it not being the best brush to use for bronzer. You want a nice full, big brush like a kabuki brush. Small brushes will tend to make the bronzer look patchy whereas a nice full brush will help blend flawlessly.
The trick to applying bronzer and have it look natural is by sweeping it across the areas on the face that the sun would naturally hit. The top of the forehead, down the temples, across the cheek bones and down the jawline with a quick sweep down the front of your nose. You can imagine two "C" shapes or the number "3" like in the photo below. Resist the urge to apply it o your entire face - it will look unnatural. Another helpful hint is the two fingers trick. Hold two fingers parallel alongside your nose - do not apply bronzer past those two fingers.
